Students are building their base for education in their formidable elementary school years. ThinkMarin has developed specific classes to keep your student on track and engaged in education. We understand that not all students learn alike so we offer small group tutoring classes to help your elementary school student explore different tools, and show them how to use these tools to succeed.
ThinkMarin will offer the following small group classes:
This class is intended to challenge your third or fourth grader while making math fun! The focus of the class is to learn how to problem solve using critical thinking, logic, mathematical reasoning, and estimation. Instead of showing kids only one way to solve a problem, students will find there are many ways to tackle math questions and learn the tools that work best for them. Though this class is focused on math, students will learn to articulate how they arrived at their answer. This process will refine writing and communication skills as they challenge themselves in math. This class is limited to 6 students max.
Is your child having trouble learning their multiplication facts? With curriculum demands, teachers do not have time to focus on the developmental skills required for many students to learn their facts. Future success in math is dependent upon the automaticity with which a student can recall multiplication and other basic facts.
Not all kids learn math facts by memorizing flashcards. This course uses Making Math Real 9 Lines symbol imaging program to create mental organizers to develop automaticity.
Minimum 4 students – Maximum 6
Help your student become a better writer with a ThinkMarin Writers’ Workshop. This weekly one hour class is led by an accredited teacher who has taught writing skills at both the elementary school and middle school level. This interactive writing class builds basic writing skills, explain transitions from topic to paragraph, and teach students how to organize their ideas. Students will have the freedom to be creative and build their own story, or focus on their class writing project to ensure they stay on track. This course will strengthen students’ ability to extend sentences, and write a well-structured effective paragraph.
