ThinkMarin is currently offering small group tutoring for Marin middle school students focused on particular class curriculum.  These classes are led by instructors currently teaching the same subject but from a neighboring Marin middle school. This ensures no conflict of interest, and the teacher is intimately involved in the subject matter. Our small group sessions of 3-6 students will focus on specific class content giving students the tools to not only succeed in the coursework, but to build a skill set to master demanding concepts throughout their academic career.

Students will meet with an experienced teacher who is currently teaching, or has taught Math 8 or Integrated Pathways Mathematics at a neighboring Marin middle school. ThinkMarin Math 8/IPM tutors are trained to teach the Common Core Standards in Mathematics. The class will give the students a forum to have their questions answered. Class content will review current class material, preview new concepts, and build skills to master exams.

Class content will cover review of class material, preview new concepts, and build skills to master class exams. The main focus of this class will be on math concepts, but the teacher will take time to go over Language Arts homework.

Margie Burke Speech Tournament Workshop

Get the extra support you need to prepare for the Margie Burke Speech Tournament. The tournament is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders and is the largest speech tournament in Marin County. We have two workshops to prepare students for the four categories of competition student may enter up to three events, choosing from:

Workshop I – Impromptu and Persuasive Speaking Workshop:

This session will focus on aspects such as Attention Grabbers, Transitions and Segues, Ethos/Logos/Pathos, and engaging an audience.

 Workshop II – Dramatic Interpretation and Original Prose/Poetry:
 For each of these categories students would need to memorize lines verbatim. Thus, this class would focus on memorization, delivery, interpretation, inflection, etc.

Class fee includes entry fee.
